Why compare cooking classes abroad here

Booking sites list three-hour classes, and holiday agencies sell their own week-long packages. Few put a month at a culinary school next to a week in a farmhouse and a single afternoon class, even though that is the choice most people are making: how long can I stay, and what do I get for the money?

Cookweeks puts every course into the same fields: price and what it is per, length, hands-on hours, group size, languages, lodging, meals, wine, certificate and season. Where a school does not publish something we leave it blank instead of guessing.

Who it is for

  • Travellers fitting a pasta or pizza class into a city break.
  • Food lovers planning a week-long cooking holiday in Tuscany, Puglia or Sicily.
  • Gap years, sabbaticals and retirees who want to learn to cook in Italy for a month or more.
  • Career changers comparing pizzaiolo, gelato, pastry and chef courses.

Not for: booking directly. You book with the school; we link to its page.

Questions about cooking classes abroad

How much does a cooking class abroad cost?

In Italy, the first country we cover, published prices for day classes run from €50 to €388 per person, week-long cooking holidays from €549 to €5,908, and long-stay courses of two weeks or more from €4,900. Every figure comes from a school website and is dated.

What is Cookweeks?

Cookweeks is an independent comparison of cooking classes and culinary courses abroad. We list 58 schools and 114 courses in Italy, from three-hour classes to month-long and professional courses, with the price, length, group size and what is included, copied from each school’s own page with the date we read it. No school pays to be listed.

Can I learn to cook in Italy for a month or longer?

Yes. Culinary schools such as ALMA, ICIF and CAST Alimenti run courses of two to four weeks or more for international students, and some language schools combine Italian lessons with cooking. Stays over 90 days in the Schengen area need a study visa if you are not an EU citizen. See the long-stay pages for prices and stay rules.

Do I book through Cookweeks?

No. Each course card links to the school’s own page, and you book with the school. For long-stay and professional courses you can also send us your dates and budget, and we reply with matching courses and ask the schools you choose.

Which countries will you cover next?

Italy is first. Thailand (Chiang Mai and Bangkok) is next, then France, Japan, Spain and Mexico. Country pages appear only once we have checked school prices there.
